Why add a stain protector?
Spills sit on top. Tea, juice and wine stay on the surface for longer instead of soaking straight into the pile, so a knocked-over mug is a quick blot, not a stain.
New carpet stays new for longer. Just had carpet fitted in your Essex home, or just had it cleaned? A fabric protector helps it stay that way, especially on stairs, in hallways and by the sofa, where most spills happen.
You choose where it goes. Every room, or just the stairs and hallway. It suits new and light-coloured carpets, family homes, pets and rentals best.
How it goes on. New or already-clean carpet gets it on its own. Anything else we clean first, then protect while it’s still damp. Either way we spray it evenly and brush it into the pile, and it dries with the carpet.
Carpet needs a clean, or has stains? Book both in one visit. We clean it, stain treatment included, then protect it straight after. Add both to one quote.

FAQs
Scotchgard, prices and more: your questions
How much does carpet protection cost?
£20 a room or staircase and £10 a hallway or landing, on its own or with a clean. £80 minimum visit.
Is a carpet protector worth it?
Yes, if your carpet sees spills. It gives you time to blot a spill before it soaks in, which matters most on new or light carpets, stairs, hallways and family rooms.
What does a stain guard actually do?
It makes spills sit on the surface for longer, so you have time to blot them up before they soak into the pile.
Can you protect my carpet without cleaning it?
Yes, if it’s brand new or already clean. Anything else, we clean first, so the protector goes on clean fibres rather than on top of dirt.
Can’t I just buy a spray can?
You can, but it’s easy to get patchy results. Shop cans are made for small patches; we spray the whole area evenly with a professional protector.
Is it safe for children and pets?
Yes, once it’s dry. Keep children and pets off the carpet while it dries, the same as after any clean, and then life carries on as normal.
Is this the same as Scotchgard?
Yes, it’s the same kind of treatment. We use Fibreguard Pro, a professional carpet protector. (Scotchgard is a 3M trade mark.)
How long does it last?
Typically until your next professional clean, around 12 to 18 months in most homes. Busy walkways wear it fastest, so we reapply it each time we clean.
Can you put it on a wool carpet?
Often, yes. We test the fibre first and tell you on the day, before anything is applied.
