How Much Does Mattress Cleaning Cost?

Mattress cleaning is priced by bed size across the whole UK market: roughly £20 to £40 for a single, rising to £55 to £80 for a super king. London and premium firms charge more.

Ours works the same way, from a fixed £40 for a single to £80 for a super king, with a £60 minimum visit. Sanitisation and stain treatment are part of our price, not extras, and this guide covers where else in the market they aren't.

How mattress cleaning is priced in the UK

Size is the whole model. Unlike carpets, where firms argue about rooms versus hours versus square metres, nearly every mattress price list in the country runs single, double, king, super king, each a step up.

What varies is what the headline number includes. Some local firms sell the clean in tiers, a basic vacuum-and-spray at one price and the proper extraction clean at another. Some price stain treatment or sanitising as separate line items.

Two Essex competitors we track run permanent “half price” promotions, which tells you what the sticker price is really for. The question that matters when you compare quotes isn't the number, it's what the number buys. Ask that first.

What changes the price

• Bed size. The single biggest factor, and the reason mattress cleaning is always priced by size rather than as one flat figure.
• Stains and smells. Old urine or sweat marks take an enzyme treatment and longer dwell time. Some firms bill that on top; our price stays fixed once quoted.
• The depth of the clean. A surface tier and a deep-clean tier can sit £20 to £40 apart on the same list for the same bed. There's one tier here: the deep one.
• How many you do at once. Combining beds in one visit spreads the minimum charge, which is why a single on its own is best paired with another item.
• Add-ons elsewhere. Separate charges for sanitising or deodorising are common. We fold both into the by-size price.

Worked examples

• One double: £50. Below the £60 minimum, so pair it with another bed or an item.
• Two doubles in one visit: 2 × £50 = £100.
• A king and a single together: £70 + £40 = £110.
• A double mattress with a carpet clean: £50 added to the room price, clearing the minimum in one visit.

Questions to ask before you book

1. Which tier is the advertised price? If there's a basic and a deep clean, the advert is usually the basic. Ask what the deep one costs; that's the real comparison figure.
2. Are stains and sanitising included? On some lists each is a line item. Here both come as standard.
3. How wet will the mattress be left? The honest answer decides whether you sleep on it that night or on the sofa. Ours: same night.
4. Is the promotion permanent? A perpetual half-price offer is a sticker price, not a discount. Compare the price you'd actually pay.

Why a fixed by-size price beats a vague quote

A flat “from” price is the trap here. It looks cheap in an advert, then grows on the day once someone sees the actual bed and starts adding for size, stains and sanitising.

Pricing by size upfront, with the sanitising and the stain work already inside the number, means there is nothing left to discover at the bedroom door. There's nothing to bolt on once the mattress is in front of us.
